A friend of Kate Middleton has revealed the truth behind the princess’s highly anticipated Wimbledon appearance. Speaking to the Daily Beast, the insider shared the one condition the Princess of Wales’s public appearances are dependent on.
Will Kate Middleton appear at Wimbledon?
Following her shocking cancer diagnosis earlier this year, Kate has largely stayed out of public view. As she continues her treatment, speculation about her Wimbledon performance is mounting.
However, a friend of hers and Prince William told the outlet: “It’s no secret she would love to be there, but when you’re going through chemo, as she herself said, there are good days and bad days.”

While the friend seemed hopeful, he explained that it all “depends on the timing of the treatments.” “She made it to Trooping the Colour so if she can make it to Wimbledon she will,” they added.
The Royal Family shares a long history with the world’s oldest tennis tournament. It all began in 1907, when the then Prince of Wales George V and his wife, Princess Mary (later King and Queen of Great Britain), visited Wimbledon.

Since then, the royals have continued the tradition, with Queen Elizabeth passing the patronage on to Kate in 2016. The Princess of Wales is known for her enthusiasm for tennis, leading royal fans to wonder if she will attend this year. Despite no official confirmation of her attendance, Wimbledon officials have expressed their hope.
Debbie Jevans, the tournament chairman, told the Daily Telegraph: “We hope that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as patron of the club, but her health and recovery is the priority. We don’t know what we don’t know. We have just said that we will work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible.”
